Story

My son and I are on the cover of ZEITmagazin.

Two journalists spent ten days with us: in Lisbon, in Amsterdam and at a longevity clinic in Berlin.

This week, Alek and I are on the cover of ZEITmagazin, the magazine that comes with every copy of Die Zeit, Germany’s largest weekly newspaper, read by almost 2 million people. The story is called “Marek, Alek und die Ewigkeit”: Marek, Alek and eternity. ZEIT filed it under “Longevity-Bewegung”: the longevity movement.

Stella Schalamon and Sina Metz found us through an article I wrote about the quest. What caught them was the two of us: one father, one son, two generations looking for the same thing. They stayed with us for ten days, first with me in Lisbon, then with Alek in Amsterdam, and finally in Berlin, where Alek and I spent a long day being tested at the Years longevity clinic, and where they met Aubrey de Grey, Brian Kennedy and Steve Horvath at the Life Summit.

Their questions went far beyond biomarkers and clinics. They wanted to understand how a father and a son can see longevity so differently and still travel together.

The quest they wrote about is the one Alek and I set out on in August 2023: a year around the world, 39 countries and states, more than 100 longevity scientists, doctors and experts. It became our documentary film, “Live Beyond. Father and Son on a Quest for Longevity”, and my book, “Live Beyond. How to Win Your Longevity Game”.

On the road I drew the Longevity Map: one simple picture of the whole field, from the longevity basics that do most of the work, to biohacking upgrades, prevention and diagnostics, and radical life extension. Ask for the Map and its Guide here.

Everything else lives on the Live Beyond Hub, in 8 languages: the people we met, the clinics, the articles, and the Founding Circle for everyone who wants to help longevity grow.

Longevity, for both of us, is about actually living.

Thank you, Stella and Sina, for your time, your care and your friendship. The article is in German, for Die Zeit subscribers: read it on zeit.de.
